FilmDistrict, the new label started by Oscar-winning producer Graham King (THE DEPARTED), has picked up North American distribution rights to the project and will release the film in theaters on August 12th. The film had already seen some promotion from Disney including a panel at Comic-Con and a trailer that was attached to LET ME IN and DEVIL this past fall but will essentially reboot its campaign this spring.
DARK is a remake of a 1973 TV movie and was co-written by del Toro and directed by Troy Nixey. We were able to get an early look at the film and have a review to whet your appetite.
The good news is that DARK will keep its R-rating and hit theaters as del Toro and Nixey originally intended. Who knows, maybe we’ll see another appearance this year at Comic-Con?
