We can only hear so much about how amazing Guillermo del Toro's THE SHAPE OF WATER is before it gets all too frustrating that it hasn't been released yet! Thankfully, with less than a month to go, we'll soon be sitting down for del Toro's adult fairy tale, but in the meantime, why not check out the final red-band trailer for the upcoming film. Be warned, it does seem to give quite a lot away. Set in 1962 during the Cold War, THE SHAPE OF WATER finds the lonely Elisa (Sally Hawkins) trapped in a life of silence and isolation, but when she discovers an amphibious creature (Doug Jones) in a water tank in a government laboratory, her life is changed forever.
Since its debut at the Venice International Film Festival this summer, Guillermo del Toro's THE SHAPE OF WATER has been receiving rave reviews, including one from our own Chris Bumbray, who caught the movie at the Toronto International Film Festival. Calling it a "magnificent piece of film," in his review, Bumbray added that it's a "thoroughly original love story/fable," which "never quite goes down the path you think it will." In addition to Sally Hawkins and Doug Jones, THE SHAPE OF WATER also stars Michael Shannon, Octavia Spencer, Richard Jenkins, and Michael Stuhlbarg. One hell of a cast.
The official synopsis for THE SHAPE OF WATER:
