When Warner Bros. announced their upcoming slate of DC movies last month, many wondered if Guillermo Del Toro's Justice League Dark film DARK UNIVERSE was dead since it wasn't on the list. However Forbes is reporting the script for the project is done, and it has been delivered to Warner Bros. The site also says, "The studio’s reactions to the script will be coming back in a few days, and the film could take another step toward production if Warner has a favorable opinion of what they see on the page."
In the comics, the members of Justice League Dark are some of the more supernatural characters from the DC comics, and Guillermo Del Toro has previously said John Constantine, Swamp Thing, the Demon, Deadman, the Spectre and Zatanna will be featured in the planned film.
But even if Warner Bros. loves the DARK UNIVERSE script, who knows when filming might start for the movie. Delo Toro is currently doing post-production work on CRIMSON PEAK, his FX series The Strain has been renewed for a second season, is involved with the new Silent Hill game, and PACIFIC RIM 2 is set to to hit theaters in 2017. Obviously he has a lot on his plate right now, but hopefully DARK UNIVERSE will actually happen.
Guillermo Del Toro's CRIMSON PEAK starring Mia Wasikowska, Tom Hiddleston, Charlie Hunnam and Jessica Chastain opens on October 16, 2015.
