Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 teaser reveals an out-of-this-world adventure and new characters at Comic-Con

Marvel Studios has San Diego Comic Con‘s Hall H in a mighty grip this evening, and the biggest a-holes in the cosmos have arrived to help celebrate! During the Marvel Studios panel, the outlet for superb superhero cinema brought James Gunn to the stage to share a Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 teaser. The third and final chapter in Gunn’s Guardians trilogy has remained a mystery until now, making this reveal incredibly special for MCU fans and beyond.

During the Marvel Studios panel, James Gunn took the stage and expressed his thanks to everyone who’s come along for the wild ride that is his Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy. Gunn said this is the end of the Guardian’s story, and it’s sad to see some things end.

A teaser then played for the crown. In the footage, we see Gamora (Zoe Saldana) returning to the group and the first look at Adam Warlock (Will Poulter). It was then revealed that Maria Bakalova is voicing Cosmo the Space Dog.

The cast then joined Gunn on the main stage.

Gunn told the crowd that Rocket is the saddest creature in the universe and that this movie is his story. Chris Pratt says Quill is still reeling from the loss of Gamora and the pain of her not knowing who he is hurting him. The pain has opened a wound that makes the other Guardians vulnerable, and Quill spends the movie making up for his mistakes.

Gillan says there will be more levity to Nebula in the new film. She’ll be funnier after going through a cathartic experience with Thanos being eliminated. Now she can become who she was always meant to be.

Pom Klementieff says Mantis is still quirky but has more confidence. She’s pissed off and kicks more ass in the upcoming sequel. Sean Gunn is also on the stage, and he says the best part of the trilogy is working alongside his brother, James.

The whole cast then got choked up talking about Gunn. Pratt addressed the filmmaker by saying, “You changed our lives.”

It was later revealed that Adam Warlock was almost in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Gunn says Poulter is the only person who could play the character. Poulter is insanely jacked and tall now. People in the audience are thirsting for him HARD.

Meanwhile, Bakalova says Cosmo brings love to the story, and she was hanging out with the canine all the time on set.

Chukwudi Iwuji is also there, and he MILKED his entrance.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 wrapped production in May, with most of the original cast returning for more space madness and extreme team building. Based on a screenplay by James Gunn and Dan Abnett, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Pom Klementieff, Will Poulter, Karen Gillan, Sylvester Stallone, Elizabeth Debicki, Chukwudi Iwuji, Maria Bakalova, Nico Santos, Stephen Blackheart, Reinaldo Faberlle, and Olive Raine Cleope.

Before Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 hits theaters on May 5, 2023, Marvel Studios and James Gunn will present the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special on Disney+. Gunn directs and writes the series, featuring Star-Lord, Drax, Rocket, Mantis, and Groot getting into the holiday spirit for an original special created for Disney+. Expected to arrive in December, the special also features David Moskowitz as Santa Claus.
