Guardians of the Galaxy, Ravagers TV series, James Gunn

When James Gunn introduced the world to the Guardians of the Galaxy, we were still years away from Marvel TV shows such as WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki. Those series have demonstrated just what Marvel can do on the small screen, which has fans excited for the future. The possibilities are pretty much endless, but one series that James Gunn has always wanted to see would revolve around The Ravagers, the interstellar crime syndicate full of thieves, smugglers, bounty hunters, and pirates.

While speaking on Josh Horowitz's Happy Sad Confused podcast, James Gunn said that he'd love to see The Ravagers get their own Disney+ series.

I always thought The Ravagers would be a great show. Whether that was with Sly Stallone's Ravagers or even more in-depth with just the pirates and what they were doing. I told Kevin Feige that when he first visited the set when we were on the Ravagers ship for Guardians 1, I said we should make a Ravagers show. He said if this movie's a hit you can do whatever you want. Still, no Ravagers show, so I don't know what happened.

With all the shows Marvel Studios has in development for Disney+, I can't see any reason why The Ravagers can't be among them. It may be some time before such a series becomes a reality as James Gunn is quite busy with other projects, including the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but he also mentioned that he really wants "to do Peacemaker season two" and that's "the only thing I'm committed to if it happens right now." James Gunn's The Suicide Squad is now playing in theaters and will be available to stream on HBO Max tomorrow, and the first season of Peacemaker is set to debut in January 2022. As for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the sequel will start shooting later this year for a May 5, 2023 release.
