Chris Pratt, alongside several key castmembers of Marvel's GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, have shared an open letter in support of James Gunn, who'd recently been fired as director of GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3. The letter calls for Disney to reinstate Gunn, who'd been ousted after a series of offensive tweets were unearthed in which Gunn joked about such controversial topics as pedophilia and rape.
"Although I don’t support James Gunn’s inappropriate jokes from years ago, he is a good man," Pratt wrote in the post which he'd shared on his personal Instagram account on Monday. "I’d personally love to see him reinstated as director of Volume 3. If you please, read the following statement- signed by our entire cast."

Recently, over 335,000 people have signed a petition featured on Change.org to have Gunn return as the director of GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3. For the moment, there has been no movement from Disney's side of the fence to welcome Gunn back to the franchise, nor has a solution to his firing been presented. With Gunn out of the picture, logic dictates that the release of GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3 is in the wind, thereby compromising Marvel's busy and carefully-plotted release schedule. Considering that GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 earned the House of Mouse $863 million at the worldwide box office, you'd assume that the studio is working around the clock to weigh their options with the hope presenting fans with a solution real soon.
What do you think of this whole mess? Has Disney made the right move by firing Gunn for jokes he made several years ago, or have they ventured down a slippery slope where owning up to one's past behavior no longer matters? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
