Sylvester Stallone officially joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Guardians of the Galaxy 2. The actor played Stakar Ogord, a legendary Ravager captain who was forced to exile Yondu. The role wasn’t all that big, but there have been rumours that Sylvester Stallone will return for a bigger role in Guardians of the Galaxy 3, which the actor has now confirmed.
Sylvester Stallone took to Instagram to post a behind-the-scenes video from Guardians of the Galaxy 3. The video doesn’t reveal much but finds Stallone getting his face scanned in a variety of expressions.
James Gunn revealed that earlier this week that production on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 had officially begun. “It’s been a strange & long & at times challenging journey to get here, but the obstacles along the way have only made this moment more blissful,” Gunn said. “Back on set with my Guardians family for the first day of shooting.” Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Dave Bautista, Pom Klementieff have all returned for the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel, where they’ll be joined by Chukwudi Iwuji and Will Poulter. While Iwuji’s role is being kept under wraps, Poulter will be playing Adam Warlock. The character was first teased in one of the post-credit scenes in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 when Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki) created an artificial being to help destroy the Guardians.
Stallone’s return for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 keeps the actor’s relationship with writer/director James Gunn going, as he also voiced King Shark in The Suicide Squad. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will hit theaters on May 5, 2023.
