It's been almost a year since we shared the awesome news that Grizzly II: Revenge had been officially completed and would be released almost forty years after the production ran into funding issues and creative disagreements that caused it to be shelved. Now we know exactly when that release is going to happen: Gravitas Ventures, a Red Arrow Studios company, has announced that they will be giving Grizzly II an On Demand and limited theatrical release on January 8, 2021.
Directed by André Szöts from a screenplay by David Shaldon and Joan McCall, the film is a sequel to William Girdler's 1976 classic Grizzly (watch it HERE) and has the following synopsis:
All hell breaks loose when a 15-ft grizzly bear, reacting to the slaughter of her cub by poachers, seeks revenge and kills anyone that gets in her way. In the 3 days before the major concert, the gigantic grizzly has brutally attacked campers, a poacher and a park ranger. The terror doesn’t end there as the giant grizzly bear finds its way to the concert grounds to go on a killing spree.
Grizzly II: Revenge has an incredible cast, including George Clooney, Charlie Sheen, and Laura Dern before they became famous, plus Louise Fletcher, John Rhys-Davies, Dick Anthony Williams, Jack Starrett, Charles Cyphers, and Deborah Foreman.
Gravitas Ventures' Nick Royak had this to say:
Grizzly II is one of those true, diamond-in-the-rough projects. It is a gem unearthed from a different moment in film history and we could not be more excited to be part of its continued journey through decades of culture. We tip our hats to Suzanne C. Nagy, who did what any good producer would do and coaxed this film to its finish line."
Along with the release announcement comes a new trailer, embedded above, and the poster that can be seen below.
