First Look: Gremlins animated series Secrets of the Mogwai!

Hell, yeah! It looks like that GREMLINS Animated Series we told you guys about a while back is actually coming soon. The series will be called Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai and today we have your first look at the series via a banner poster which you can check out above!

The half-hour series has received a 10-episode order at the WarnerMedia streaming service. Here's the rundown:

Set in 1920s Shanghai, the series tells how 10-year-old Sam Wing (future shop owner Mr. Wing in the 1984 movie) met the young Mogwai called Gizmo. Along with a teenage street thief named Elle, Sam and Gizmo take a perilous journey through the Chinese countryside, encountering, and sometimes battling, colorful monsters and spirits from Chinese folklore. On their quest to return Gizmo to his family and uncover a legendary treasure, they are pursued by a power-hungry industrialist and his growing army of evil Gremlins.

Tze Chun will write the series and serve as co-executive producer. Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey of Amblin Television will executive produce along with Sam Register. Brendan Hay will also co-executive produce with Dan Krall serving as supervising producer. Amblin will produce in association with Warner Bros. Animation. The first film followed:

A gadget salesman is looking for a special gift for his son and finds one at a store in Chinatown. The shopkeeper is reluctant to sell him the `Mogwai' but sells it to him with the warning to never expose him to bright light, water, or to feed him after midnight. All of this happens and the result is a gang of gremlins that decide to tear up the town on Christmas Eve.

The original classic creature feature was directed by Joe Dante from a screenplay written by THE GOONIES scribe Chris Columbus. Michael Finnell produced the pint-sized fright flick which starred Zach Galligan, Phoebe Cates, Hoyt Axton, Polly Holliday, Frances Lee McCain, and Corey Feldman.
