While Warner Bros. struggled to develop the DCEU, mega-producer Greg Berlanti was in the midst of creating a small-screen universe which has gone on to include Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, Batwoman, and more. Berlanti is set to add more DC Universe shows to his ever increasing slate as it's been announced that he's set to develop two new DC shows for HBO Max, WarnerMedia's upcoming streaming service.
Greg Berlanti will executive produce Strange Adventures as well as another series inspired by Green Lantern for HBO Max. "Both of these original DC properties we’ll be creating for HBO Max will be unlike anything seen on television," Berlanti said. "An anthology series of cautionary tales set in a world where superpowers exist, and, in what promises to be our biggest DC show ever made, we will be going to space with a Green Lantern television series, but I can’t reveal any more about that just yet." Both projects are expected to go to series, with Strange Adventures set to include characters from across the DC Universe as it explores close-ended stories about the intersecting lives of regular mortals and superhumans, but details on the Green Lantern series are being kept under wraps at the moment. This won't be Berlanti's first involvement with the world of Green Lantern as he also co-wrote Ryan Reynolds' GREEN LANTERN film back in 2011, but we'll try not to hold that against him.
HBO Max is set to launch in May 2020.
