Green Ranger Jason David Frank promises a cameo in new Power Rangers movie

For a lot of us fans of the original Power Rangers series, the first question we had when the new movie was announced was if any familiar faces would be involved. Just this week it was reported that Roberto Orci, who was going to serve as executive producer and who came up with the new story, left the film because he's going to be a little busy directing STAR TREK 3. Well for happier news, if the actor and MMA fighter Jason David Frank (aka The Green Ranger) is to be believed, we can expect to see him in a cameo at least.

When asked by ComicBook.com about his involvement in the Power Rangers reboot he said:

I probably will be involved. They talked to me about it. I don’t know how much I am involved, but for sure cameos at least in the reboot movie.

They asked him if he knew what direction the new film would take with its script or cast:

No, I haven’t heard anything, except for what Roberto released. They are so tight-lipped on that project, it’s ridiculous. I don’t even know my involvement into it. They talked to me about being involved, and the fans would love to see me involved. You know, we were originally talking about a Green Ranger series, but unfortunately just due to the Lionsgate movie, they don’t want to overshadow anything or suppress the appetite of the fans, which is a little disappointing, but there’s still possibilities of it. It’s just I think they are trying to save…honestly, I think they are trying to save my appearance for the Lionsgate movie.

Frank played Tommy Oliver, the Green, White and later Red and Black rangers, too. He led the cast of the 1995 MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS MOVIE, and has appeared in a number of the later TV seasons, including Power Rangers Turbo, Power Rangers Wild Force, and Power Rangers DinoThunder. So the dude knows his Power Rangers it’s safe to say. It sounds like he was told he would be involved in some way, but people are just nice sometimes, and plans can change by the minute so I wouldn’t take this as concrete just yet. The creators are tight-lipped over the project, and would probably want to tread lightly knowing how die-hard fans might react (or overreact) to any and all news.

Would you like the Green Ranger to make an appearance?
