Green Lantern series lands Superman & Lois director Lee Toland Krieger

It sounds like Lee Toland Krieger is being given a power ring. Word has arrived from the 3600 sectors of the universe that Krieger is set to direct and executive produce the first two episodes of Green Lantern, HBO Max's highly-anticipated superhero series.

So far, Green Lantern has cast Finn Wittrock as the blowhard Lantern Guy Gardner and Jeremy Irvine as the first Lantern, Alan Scott. The series is expected to take place in the 1980s, with other Lanterns, including the half-alien Bree Jarta, set to join the universe-spanning adventure.

In the past, Krieger has helmed films like Celeste & Jesse Forever and The Age of Adaline. Eventually, he had his way into television and quickly cemented himself as the go-to director for stand-out pilot episodes. He shot the pilots for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Fox's Prodigal Son, and, of course, Superman & Lois. With other notable projects to his name like Netflix's Shadow and Bone and Deadly Class, it's easy to see why DC wants him to help kick Green Lantern off with a bang.

Are you stoked for HBO Max's Green Lantern? Who do you hope will show up as a part of the show? Personally, I'm waiting for Lanterns Jessica Crus, Simon Baz, John Stewart, and Sinestro to be cast.
