Get ready to go back and forth in time with the BACK TO THE FUTURE trilogy! It has been announced that all three of the films will be available for streaming on Netflix beginning on May 1, 2020.
Interestingly enough, only BACK TO THE FUTURE PART III is currently available on the service so this seems like the perfect time to have all three films in one space as we all have plenty of time to kill nowadays to get lost in what is arguably one of the best cinematic trilogies of all-time. The news was announced on the official Netflix Twitter page.
The full BACK TO THE FUTURE trilogy coming to Netflix comes at a time when the first film is making waves on social media. Many people have hopped on the "5 Perfect Films" challenge and BACK TO THE FUTURE has made the cut on serveral lists, including James Gunn's, who defended the film from naysayers who began pointing out a perceived plot hole in the film that makes it less than a perfect film. The "should Marty's parents recognize him from 1955 debate" made the film trend on Twitter with many being split on whether this is an actual plot hole or not. Chris Pratt took to Twitter to defend the film while BACK TO THE FUTURE co-creator Bob Gale shot down the plot hole notion during a talk with "The Hollywood Reporter."
There is no denying that BACK TO THE FUTURE is one of the most beloved films ever made. Released in 1985, the film became a critical and box office success and has since gone on to define the time period it was released while also standing the test of time for generations that continue to discover it. With a cast led by Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly and Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown, the time traveling classic paved the way for two sequels,1989's BACK TO THE FUTURE PART II and 1990's BACK TO THE FUTURE PART III. The sequels didn't quite match the level of near universal praise that the first film received but they're considered classics in their own right.
Will you be checking out the BACK TO THE FUTURE trilogy on Netflix? All three films will be available to stream on May 1, 2020.
