Grandma: scream queens Brinke Stevens, Michelle Bauer, & more cast in shot-on-video horror movie

Legendary scream queens Brinke Stevens (The Slumber Party Massacre), Michelle Bauer (Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers), Deborah Dutch (Hard to Die), and Courtney Lercara (Slaughterhouse) have joined the cast of writer/director Bobby Canipe Jr.’s upcoming horror project Grandma, a tribute to the shot-on-video horrors of the 1980s and ’90s! In Lercara’s case, this means she will be earning her first screen credit in thirty years, as she last appeared in the anthology Things back in 1993.

To ensure that Grandma will perfectly emulate the look and feel of the shot-on-video movies of the past, Canipe has brought on a dream team of executive producers and creative consultants that consists of multiple SOV filmmakers: Donald Farmer, Dustin Ferguson, Mark Polonia, Joel Wynkoop, Todd Sheets, Gary Cohen, Tim Ritter, Brad Sykes, and Eric Stanze. Scott Appleby will be providing the required original synth score.

Aiming to be “fun, thrilling, scary, and gory”, Grandma will tell the following story… and it’s a lengthy synopsis, so buckle in: The story of Grandma follows a young woman looking for a new beginning. She inherits a large sum of money and uses it to buy an old bed and breakfast way out in the country, with hopes to renovate and reopen. What she doesn’t know is the terrifying history of the bed and breakfast. Unbeknownst to the young woman, 20 years earlier it was Grandma’s Bed ‘n Breakfast, a popular place for the locals to come and eat. The food was always so delicious, but there were never any tourists around for some reason. After several out-of-towners came looking for their missing family members, everything pointed back to Grandma. The police broke in, but Grandma was gone. The police found the missing tourists, along with many others, partially eaten in the freezer, but Grandma was never found, now believed to be dead after all these years. Now the young woman and her friends arrive, ready to start cleaning the newly purchased property. But it’s not going to be as easy as they think. An elderly old woman in a gown is upset that there are people in her Bed ‘n Breakfast, and she knows just how to fix the problem. Is Grandma back? Or is it someone else, somehow connected to Grandma?

Canipe promises that “the minute you press play on Grandma, you will be transported back to the horror VHS days of the early ’90s, complete with trailers and more.” Grandma will be shot on ’90s camcorders, and the full length feature film will have original faux trailers at the beginning.
