It’s been many moons since we last heard any news regarding Jon Wright’s GRABBERS, the Irish horror-comedy import that grabbed audiences attentions at Sundance and Fantasia back in 2012. It was over a year ago when we last reported on the film, sharing the news that IFC Midnight had snagged North and South American rights to the festival fave. Today we finally have news on when you will be able to see the flick that our own Chris Bumbray had a good time with when he caught it at Fantasia 2012 (peep his review HERE).
IFC Films will issue GRABBERS on July 19 under the IFC Midnight banner in select theaters and on cable VOD, iTunes, Amazon, Xbox Zune, PlayStation, SundanceNow.com and other digital VOD outlets. So mark your calendar, have your booze ready, and prepare yourself for the delirious fun that is GRABBERS.
Something sinister has come to the shores of Erin Island, unbeknownst to the quaint population of this sleepy fishing village resting somewhere off the coast of Ireland. First, some fishermen go missing. Then there is the rash of whale carcasses found washed up on the beach. When the murders start, it’s up to two mismatched cops— the charming but somewhat work-shy Ciaran O’Shea and his new by-the-book partner from the mainland, Lisa Nolan—to protect the islanders from the giant, bloodsucking, tentacled aliens that are out to get them. Their only weapon, they discover, is booze. If they want to survive the creatures’ onslaught, everyone will have to get very, very drunk.
Richard Coyle, Ruth Bradley, Russell Tovey, Lalor Roddy, David Pearse and Bronagh Gallagher star. Check out the trailer for GRABBERS below.
