Gothica lands Emma Booth as Frankenstein’s wife

ABC’s upcoming genre show GOTHICA is picking up steam in the casting department. It was a little over a week ago when we shared the news that Janet Montgomery had joined Chris Egan and Tom Ellis for the series which weaves together a mythology that centers on a modern day take on the cinematic legends of Dracula, Jekyll and Hyde, Frankenstein and Dorian Gray, and today we have a new name to add to the growing cast list.

Deadline is reporting that Australian model and actress Emma Booth has joined the cast as Madeline Usher, wife to Tom Ellis’ Victor Frankenstein. Booth was most recently seen in the Jason Statham-starring PARKER, as well as appearing in Joel Schumacher’s BLOOD CREEK.

In this incarnation of the story Victor Frankenstein runs a hospital that also does biotech research and believes that he may have a way to bring his recently deceased daughter back to life. Victor (Ellis) was once romantically involved with the show’s lead character, Grace Van Helsing. Dorian Gray (Egan) is a wealthy playboy that invests $20 million in Grace’s newspaper.

GOTHICA is written by Matt Lopez and is being co-produced by The Mark Gordon Company with “Reaper” creators Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas serving as executive producers/showrunners.

With so many genre offerings headed our way, GOTHICA will have to offer something truly extraordinary to stand out. The premise isn’t too shabby, so hopefully the crew behind this series will find a way to deliver the goods.
