A new promo for the series finale of GOTHAM has officially revealed Cameron Monaghan's final form as the Clown Prince of Crime, giving the iconic Batman villain a terrifying yet classic look to go with his signature smile. As the teaser begins, we're treated to a series of shots of Arkham Asylum, where a seemingly docile Joker sits in a wheelchair, biding his time until the big show. Next, we find Monaghan's Jerome in full Joker regalia – full makeup, royal purple suit and a pair of yellow gloves. While the look is reminiscent of past versions of the character, the makeup crew at GOTHAM have certainly gone to great lengths to make this one of the creepiest renditions of the killer clown yet.
You can watch the teaser for yourself below:
When the GOTHAM finale arrives, the events of the show's last hoorah will take place after a time jump, bringing the series a whole decade into the future. Recently, GOTHAM showrunner John Stephens revealed that fans will be treated to a decent look at the show's Caped Crusader. "He’s in the episode. He’s not just in a last scene," said Stephens. “The last episode is one scene in the timeline of the rest of the season, and then the rest of the episode is in the future."
In addition to the teaser, Fox also unleashed a poster of The Joker in all of his psychotic glory. If you ask me, the poster is slightly reminiscent of Christopher Nolan's THE DARK KNIGHT, if only in color and tone.
GOTHAM, which stars Ben McKenzie as James Gordon, Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock, David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne, Robin Lord Taylor as Penguin, Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle, Erin Richards as Barbara Kean, Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth and Shane West as Bane will return on Thursday, April 18 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.
