OMFG! Hey, Upper East Siders! WarnerMedia and HBO Max are trying to build excitement for their upcoming reboot of Gossip Girl and their goal is to lure audiences from network TV to continue watching the series on the streaming platform. It has been announced that the series will air its premiere at 8:00 PM, Friday, July 9, 2021, on The CW, one day after its streaming debut on HBO Max.
The CW will also stream the show on its CW's digital platforms after the first episode premieres on the network. The new Gossip Girl stars Jordan Alexander, Eli Brown, Thomas Doherty, Tavi Gevinson, Emily Alyn Lind, Evan Mock, Zion Moreno, Whitney Peak, and Savannah Lee Smith. Executive producers include Josh Schwartz & Stephanie Savage, who created the original series, while Karena Evans directs the first two episodes with original costume designer Eric Daman back to make a new generation look very beautiful.
On the reboot, nearly a decade after the conclusion of the original series, a new cast of Manhattan private schoolers takes the lead under the watchful eye of Gossip Girl, while demonstrating how much social media, and the landscape of New York City itself, has changed in the intervening years. Due to the show airing on HBO Max, the series will feature more adult content than the original on The CW.
Gossip Girl originally ran from 2007-2012 and 121 episodes on The CW. The show was based on the novel series of the same name by Cecily von Ziegesar and it revolved around the lives of privileged upper-class adolescents living in Manhattan's Upper East Side. The series was a pop-cultural phenomenon & made stars out of its cast, including Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Chace Crawford, Penn Badgley, Ed Westwick, Taylor Momsen, & Jessica Szohr. Kelly Rutherford & Matthew Settle also starred.
Will YOU be watching the Gossip Girl reboot? The series starts streaming on July 8, 2021, on HBO Max and its series premiere will air on The CW at 8:00 PM, Friday, July 9, 2021.
