Gore Verbinski’s A Cure for Wellness gets a nightmarish trailer

I wouldn't have expected A CURE FOR WELLNESS, the new film from THE RING director Gore Verbinski, to have a very long production schedule. It's a horror movie about a man getting trapped in a sinister wellness spa, how much time would such a project usually get for filming? Around a month? That might have been the case if the film were in the hands of a different director, but you have to take into account that Verbinski directed the first three PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN movies, which racked up nearly $2.7 billion at the global box office. Verbinski has earned himself some time, and he took it on A CURE FOR WELLNESS. I was very surprised to learn that this project had the luxury of shooting for five months, allowing Verbinski to craft the visuals exactly the way he wanted them.

The extra time certain appears to have paid off, judging by the incredible images that have been featured in every bit of A CURE FOR WELLNESS promotional material so far. The awe-inspiring visuals continue to be put on display in the latest trailer, which can be seen below – and which includes more dialogue than any WELLNESS preview has before.

Dane DeHaan, Jason Isaacs, and Mia Goth star in the film, which centers on a man who

is sent to rescue his boss from a European “wellness spa.” He soon realizes he's trapped, and discovers that the facility has a more sinister purpose than just serving the health needs of its patients.

JoBlo editor-in-chief Paul Shirey recently got to watch the first 35 minutes of A CURE FOR WELLNESS, and if you'd like to read his rundown of what happened in those 35 minutes you can do so by clicking over to JoBlo.com. There you can also see Shirey's interviews with DeHaan and Verbinski.

A CURE FOR WELLNESS reaches theatres on February 17, 2017.
