Goosebumps live-action TV series to bring R.L. Stine’s universe to Disney+

The new Goosebumps live-action TV series is coming to Disney+! That’s right, dear readers. The unhinged and unpredictable world of R.L. Stine is getting a 10-episode order on the mouse-eared streaming service.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Goosebumps live-action TV series follows a group of five high schoolers who unleash supernatural forces upon their town and must all work together – thanks to and despite their friendships, rivalries, and pasts with each other – to save it, learning much about their own parents’ teenage secrets in the process.

Nick Stoller and Rob Letterman will write and executive produce the series via Stoller Global Solutions. Letterman will also helm the first episode in the series. Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty of Original Film, Conor Welch of Stoller Global Solutions, Iole Lucchese, and Caitlin Friedman of Scholastic Entertainment will also serve as executive producers.

R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps is one of the best-selling book series of all time. It has sold over 400 million English-language units, plus international editions in 32 languages. With more than 200 tales of terror in the series, Goosebumps has been scaring the pants off readers for generations. The stories range from Halloween masks that transform the wearer into a hideous creature, ventriloquist dummies that come to life, and werewolves that run amok all around town. The Goosebumps series has been reimagined into several spinoffs, including graphic novels.

The new Goosebumps live-action TV series marks the second time that Stine’s timeless tales have been adapted for TV. The first version aired for four seasons and 74 episodes between 1996 and 1998. If you don’t feel like waiting for Disney to get this new project up and running, you can check out the series adaptation of Stine’s Just Beyond, which is available to stream right now on Disney+.
