As you guys know by now, I am a big fan of R.L. Stine's kid-horror books GOOSEBUMPS. I read as many of them as I could back in middle school and often refer to the books as my entry drug into the world of horror. I really enjoyed the Jack Black flick as well.
As far as news on GOOSEBUMPS 2, we have heard that R.L. Stine himself thinks the film's story is "pretty amazing" and that the flick is set to hit September 21st, 2018. Today we have news that the film now has a title, and if you are a fan of the series it is a doozy.
The new GOOSEBUMPS film will be titled GOOSEBUMPS: HORRORLAND.
Horrorland, for the uninitiated, is a spin-off of the Goosebumps series that was published almost ten years after the Goosebumps novels. The series was based loosely on One Day at HorrorLand (the 16th book in the original series) and Return to HorrorLand (the 13th book in the Goosebumps 2000 series). The series also marked the first series of Goosebumps books that followed the same story the whole way through, featuring crossovers with characters, villains, and locations from past Goosebumps stories, all interacting.
Below you will find the film's official title announcement pic, which is simple, but cool none the less. While I am excited about this new film and the direction they are taking it, as always, I had my own pitch for the sequel where, like that PAGEMASTER flick from back in the day, the characters would enter the world of the books this time around, instead the books' characters entering our world.
That would have been awesome.
There is currently no word on whether or not the first film's cast, including Jack Black and Odeya Rush (see below), will be returning, but I'm holding out the hope that they will, as the cast – especially that kid who looks like Tom Petty – was half the fun of the original film.
All the same, GOOSEBUMPS: HORRORLAND is set to hit theaters September 21st, 2018!
