Like many readers of my generation, R.L. Stine's GOOSEBUMPS and FEAR STREET novels were a must read. Whether you purchased them from the local S&S bookstore, rented them from the library, or borrowed them from a friend, if didn't know the details of Stine's latest spooky series, you risked being left out of some very rousing cafeteria conversation. From what I've gathered, the books are still widely popular to this day, and knowing that does my little, black heart a whole lot of good.
Today, we've received word that the title GOOSEBUMPS: HORRORLAND has been chosen for the sequel to Rob Letterman's GOOSEBUMPS (2015) family smash-hit. Okay, so maybe the term "smash-hit" is being a bit generous. In truth, the first GOOSEBUMPS film only garnered a worldwide total of $150 million, though it only cost a reported $60 million to bring to the silver screen. With that, I guess you could say that it was a moderate success. Nevertheless, the film was enjoyed by fans both new and old. As someone who thoroughly enjoyed the family-friendly horror-inspired romp, I'm looking forward to another round.

What the official plot will be for GOOSEBUMPS: HORRORLAND is anyone's guess, as the first film closed with the possibilities for a sequel remaining very open-ended. What I'm imagining is this: Jack Black will return to the role of Stine for the sequel, and reveal that he's kept a stash of manuscripts hidden away in some secret place … or so he thought. Rather than the characters of the book stepping into our world, a new group of youngsters (with Stine in tow) will be transported to Horrorland, where they'll have to do battle with the denizens of that world before they can escape into our own.
While I admit that my idea is quite similar to the plot of the first film, how radical of a change are you really expecting given the source material? Nevertheless, GOOSEBUMPS: HORRORLAND is aiming to frighten and entertain people of all ages in September of 2018.
