One of my favorite experiences when it comes to seeking out the spooks happened to me while I had the opportunity to check out Virginia City, Nevada. From the Washoe Club to the Mackay Mansion Museum, there are a whole lot of strange happenings going on in a city that appears to be from another era – and I mean this in the best of ways. One of my favorite things about this special town is the vastness of it all, yet if you are looking to get your drink on and hear some live music, you’ll find ample opportunity to do so. However, many other locations in Nevada offer up not only a great nights entertainment but a few creepy experiences for those brave enough to journey into the unknown as well.

The Goldfield Hotel in Goldfield, Nevada is one such place. The stories around it are spectacularly spooky, and they certainly seem to transcend time with ghostly cowboys and other unexplained tales. Oftentimes, I like to add my two cents about my knowledge of the subject under exam, but this week we have something a little unique. Not only do we have Nick Groff opening up about his time at the hotel, but we have a special guest who has a little behind the scenes knowledge about the place in its current state. Nick and I are happy to welcome my friend from Ghost Watch Paranormal, Mr. Paul Roberts.

Today, we not only head into the darkness of the Goldfield courtesy of Mr. Groff, but Mr. Roberts joins in to raise awareness when it comes to the changes that are happening at the hotel. He, and many others, hope to raise awareness in regards to restoring this iconic building without dismantling all that made it glorious, including the covering up of hidden underground tunnels, and lost and discarded interior. Much of the history and what made it special has been removed without fully embracing the remarkable nature of what stood before. So if you happen to be aware of The Goldfield, please share his plea, and perhaps we can help save a few memories along the way. But first, let's check in with Nick…

The Goldfield Hotel in Goldfield Nevada is a staple stone for paranormal phenomena. Years ago when I had the opportunity to investigate the Goldfield town and hotel I was captivated by the history and energy. This is a unique town that was booming back in the heydays and now it is as if there are more ghosts than humans.

My experience at the hotel has always intrigued me and had me wanting to investigate more. I believe that some of the renovations have kicked up some activity but ultimately it is a location with a lot of layers embedded into the ground. So many stories of hauntings from poltergeists, apparitions, time slips, ghosts, and tons of other happenings. Some facts and some legends over time have gained the reputation as being one of the most haunted towns in America.

I can definitely vouch for the haunted claims as I have experienced a ton of paranormal activity I still can't explain today. I hope to return to Goldfield in the near future in hopes to understand more about the paranormal. With new technology and a better understanding of the paranormal, I believe we could discover new evidence within the unknown. So many mysteries lay within the Goldfield Hotel. We will meet again soon.

We wanted to bring to light to the paranormal community some of the latest updates with the legendary Goldfield Hotel. With owner, Red Roberts' passing, development continues on the property – however, not in the way we would all hope. In 2018, we investigated the Hotel and were first-hand witnesses to the efforts to preserve the historic legacy of the Goldfield. As an example, they had unearthed hidden passages from the basement level leading across the street to a brothel. It was exciting to see the Hotel being brought back to life after so many attempts as new windows and drywall were being installed throughout the property.

Our team ventured out to Goldfield again in November of 2020 to investigate the Goldfield High School as the Hotel has been off-limits at the owner's request. While at the school, we came across some rubble in the corner of the girls' restroom and noticed it looked a lot like the distinctive tiles from the lobby floor of the Goldfield Hotel. We were told that this rubble along with other important items was found discarded and rescued by the Goldfield Historical Society. From what we were told, the developers have also sealed away the tunnel entrances in the basements removing some incredible history to the Hotel and the town. Thankfully, the iconic black grand piano was saved by the Historical Society. It was sad to hear it in their voices that they have no idea what has been lost to the dump for months before they became aware of this.

The Goldfield Historical Society is trying their best to save as many items from the Hotel as they are allowed to; and we hope by bringing this to the attention of Nick and the paranormal community, we can support their efforts to help preserve as much history from a beloved location. Currently, they are waiting for a new owner to take over the property and who would have the goal to restore and renovate rather than erase.

Let's hope that we can see a positive change to the Goldfield Hotel and that this little message can reach those that can help. Thanks for making us aware Paul!

Stay safe, and hope you all had a terrific holiday weekend.
