The original LEPRECHAUN RETURNS, and yet at the same time he doesn't, in the LEPRECHAUN sequel that's being released by Lionsgate next month. Unlike previous sequels in the franchise, this one is a direct sequel to the first LEPRECHAUN and the title character in it is the same Leprechaun that was played by Warwick Davis in the 1993 film. But even though he starred in a total of six LEPRECHAUN movies, Davis didn't come back for this one – this time the Leprechaun is being played by Linden Porco.
There's a new man under the makeup, but the character seems like the same Leprechaun we know and love in the newly released trailer for LEPRECHAUN RETURNS, which can be seen below.
Directed by Steven Kostanski from a screenplay by Suzanne Keilly, the sequel tells the following story:
When the sorority sisters of the Alpha Upsilon house decide to go green and use an old well as their water source, they unwittingly awaken a pint-sized, green-clad monster. The Leprechaun wants a pot of gold buried near the sorority house, but first, he must recover his powers with a killing spree — and only the girls of AU can stop him.
In addition to bringing the Leprechaun back up out of the well, LEPRECHAUN RETURNS is also tied to the original with the presence of Mark Holton, reprising the role of Ozzie, and the fact that the heroine is (judging by lines in the trailer) the daughter of the character Jennifer Aniston played in the '93 movie.
Porco and Holton's co-stars include Taylor Spreitler, Pepi Sonuga, Sai Bennett, Emily Reid, Oliver Llewellyn-Jenkins, and Ben McGregor.
The originally announced plan for this film was that it would premiere on Syfy to coincide with Saint Patrick's Day 2019. It may air on Syfy in March, but we're going to have the chance to watch it three months earlier than that. LEPRECHAUN RETURNS is being released on digital and VOD on December 11th.
