The Monsterverse is set to return on March 31 when Godzilla vs. Kong stomps into theaters and onto HBO Max.
Warner Bros. is going hard in the paint to promote this year's most anticipated brawl, and today is no different. I present to you two new posters for the upcoming monster mash, featuring the titular titans themselves, Godzilla and Kong. As you can see, each poster has Godzilla and Kong "mean mugging" for their respective adversary, just before sh*t starts to go down. I seriously hope those bars and hotels have kaiju insurance. Otherwise, it's going to be mean one hell of a headache for the local courts.
“I do want there to be a winner,” Godzilla vs. Kong director Adam Wingard told Entertainment Weekly in August 2017. “The original film (1962’s King Kong vs. Godzilla) was very fun, but you feel a little let down that the movie doesn’t take a definitive stance. People are still debating now who won in that original movie, you know. So, I do want people to walk away from this film feeling like, Okay, there is a winner.”
My question is this: Do you think Godzilla vs. Kong will have a clear winner? If you had to place a bet, which classic citizen stomper would you throw your money on? My heart wants Godzilla to be the victor, though I'm almost certain that Kong will take the crown. It won't be long until we find out who will reign victorious, and the anticipation is killing me! Let the internet arguments commence!
Here's the official logline for Godzilla vs. Kong: "In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity’s fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans’ origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever." The film, which stars Millie Bobby Brown, Kyle Chandler, Alexander Skarsgard, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Zhang Ziyi, Demian Bichir, and Julian Dennison, will hit theaters and HBO Max on March 31, 2021.
