The trailer for director Adam Wingard's monster mash Godzilla vs. Kong was just released a few days ago, and Warner Bros. has already decided to push back the release date. Thankfully, this isn't the sort of substantial release date delay we've been seeing throughout the pandemic. Godzilla vs. Kong has only been delayed five days, moving from March 26th to March 31st. The film will be available to watch in theatres and on the HBO Max streaming service that day.
As we wait for the movie, websites have started revealing images of the merchandising tie-ins. Kaiju News Outlet got a head start several months ago, when they shared the first look at a pair of 11" Godzilla and Kong figures coming from Playmates Toys, as well as a 6" Kong with his battle axe and some gnarly battle damage.
Funko is going to be bringing us adorable 10" Godzilla and Kong figures:
And Toyark has gotten their hands on images of the Godzilla and Kong figures from S.H. MonsterArts. This 6.3″ Godzilla and 5.7″ Kong will be available to purchase in Japan as of May, going for a price of 6,600 Yen, or around $64. They'll reach the U.S. the following month, with the price of $68 each.
The Godzilla figure has two sets of interchangeable hands, and a metallic paintjob to represent the charging of his atomic breath. Kong has two interchangeable portraits, two sets of hands, and his axe. The axe is my favorite thing in these images, because it shows in awesome detail that the blade on Kong's axe is actually one of Godzilla's dorsal plates, and the handle is a large bone. Now that's some badassery.
