Godzilla: King of the Monsters TV spot previews creatures and destruction

We're now just three months from the release of director Michael Dougherty's GODZILLA sequel GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS, and the hype is steadily building. The film has been sold on the fact that it will feature a clash between Godzilla and his fellow classic monsters Ghidorah, Mothra, and Rodan, but as we creep closer to its release date it's becoming more and more apparent that those four aren't the only monsters that will be appearing in this movie. It seems that others are going to at least have a cameo.

There's a glimpse of other monsters in the TV spot embedded below. Who is that bursting out of the ground in the desert? Which monster is rising from beneath a mountain in Germany? That monster in Germany is being monitored by members of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch stationed in "Outpost 67". If there are 67 outposts, does that mean there are monsters appearing in 67 different locations around the world? People are screwed.

But as the TV spot says, only one monster can be King. The title of the movie is very clear on who that King is. Godzilla save us.

Directed by Dougherty from a screenplay he wrote with his KRAMPUS collaborator Zach Shields and GODZILLA / KONG: SKULL ISLAND's Max Borenstein, GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS follows 

the heroic efforts of Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species thought to be mere myths rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.

The film's human cast includes Millie Bobby Brown, Vera Farmiga, Ken Watanabe, Sally Hawkins, Kyle Chandler, Zhang Ziyi, Aisha Hinds, Charles Dance, Thomas Middleditch, O'Shea Jackson Jr., Randy Havens, Jonathan Howard, Anthony Ramos, Bradley Whitford, and Elizabeth Ludlow. 

Jason Liles, Richard Dorton, and Alex Maxson provided the motion capture performances for the three heads of Ghidorah.

GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS reaches theatres on May 31, 2019.
