Grab your fishing tackle and make sure you have a good alibi because A24‘s God’s Creatures trailer is here. Saela Davis and Anna Rose Homer direct this chilling tale based on a story by Fodhla Cronin O’Reilly and a screenplay by Shane Crowley. The story takes place in a windswept fishing village, where a mother becomes torn between protecting her beloved son and her sense of right and wrong. A lie she tells for him rips her family apart, and the close-knit community they live in starts to crumble.

In A24’s God’s Creatures trailer, we see the makings of powerhouse performances by Emily Watson (Gosford ParkPunch-Drunk Love), Paul Mescal (Normal PeopleThe Lost Daughter), and Aisling Franciosi (The NightingaleThe Unforgivable). The film debuted in the Directors’ Fortnight section at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival. Audiences were reportedly captivated by the film’s dark events and swept into a character-driven mystery that left them disturbed.

God’s Creatures begs audiences to contemplate how far they would go to protect a loved one. How long can you live with a lie if the story your blood has told you is missing pieces? How long can the truth remain hidden? How many skeletons can you fit inside one closet when neighbors continuously knock at your front door?

Watson is currently filming the biographical drama Midas Men for Sara Sugarman. The story unfolds on Thursday, November 9, 1961, when a man named Brian descends the stairs to a cellar in Liverpool and changes the world forever. Brigit Grant wrote the script, with Jonathan Wakeham penning the screenplay.

What do you think about A24’s God’s Creatures trailer? Do you think Brian O’ Hara is guilty? How long do you think he can maintain his composure before the truth comes pouring out? Let us know in the comments. God’s Creatures opens in theaters on September 30, 2022.
