God Is a Bullet trailer: Nick Cassavetes’ Satanic cult thriller reaches theatres in June

A few weeks ago, we learned that Patriot Pictures and XYZ Films are teaming up with Wayward Entertainment to give the Satanic cult thriller God Is a Bullet a wide domestic theatrical release on June 23rd, with a digital release to follow on July 11th. Now a trailer for God Is a Bullet has arrived online, and you can check it out in the embed above to see whether or not this is a movie you’ll want to watch this summer.

Actor turned writer/director Nick Cassavetes, best known to many as the director of The Notebook but to me as the villain in The Wraith, was at the helm of God Is a Bullet, which is based on a novel by Boston Teran (pick up a copy HERE). Starring Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Maika Monroe, the film follows detective Bob Hightower (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), who finds his ex-wife murdered and his daughter kidnapped by an insidious cult. Bob takes matters into his own hands and infiltrates the secretive cult to try to save his daughter. With the help of the cult’s only female victim escapee, Case Hardin (Maika Monroe), Bob and Case go down the rabbit hole with The Ferryman to save his daughter and find closure for Case from the cult – and its maniacal leader – that took so much away from her.

Monroe and Coster-Waldau are joined in the cast by January Jones, David Thornton, Paul Johannson, Johnathan Tucker, Ethan Suplee, Garret Wareing, Brendan Sexton III, Virginia Cassavetes, and Chloe Guy, with Jamie Foxx as The Ferryman and Karl Glusman as the cult leader.

God Is a Bullet was produced by Don Allen and Patriot Pictures’ Michael Mendelsohn. Kim H. Winther, Santiago Garcia Galvan, and Jim Steele are co-producers. Sidney Kimmel, Chuck Pacheco, Paul Johansson, and Natalie Perrotta serve as executive producers. Mendelsohn’s Union Patriot Capital Management handled the financing. XYZ Films represents worldwide sales. The Patriot Pictures and Union Patriot Capital Management team includes Anne Jordan, ESQ and Ryan Webb of Greenberg and Glusker.

Mendelsohn provided the following statement: “We are looking forward to working with Wayward and are so excited that God Is a Bullet will be hitting theaters nationwide this summer. Audiences are back and want to see films that keep them on the edge. Nick and I, with an amazing, multi-national cast and crew, are excited to release a badass, action-packed revenge classic, made to be enjoyed on the big screen.

Cassavetes added: “I’ve been trying to tell this great story for the last 18+ years. It’s tough, violent, has two flawed and fantastic characters, and absolutely pulls no punches. I love it! There’s nothing else out there like it, not even close!
