The first big animated release of 2014 comes in the form of Dreamworks' MR. PEABODY AND SHERMAN, starring Ty Burrell as Mr. Peabody and Max Charles as Sherman, with supporting roles from Ariel Winter, Leslie Mann, Stanley Tucci, Lake Bell, Patrick Warburton, Allison Janney, Dennis Haysbert, Mel Brooks, and Stephen Colbert. Based on the characters from the Peabody's Improbable History segments of the 1960s animated television series The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show, the movie is a time-traveling adventure comedy of sorts and looks to be a fairly serviceable venture for the intended audience.

Here's the synopsis:
Using his most ingenious invention, the WABAC machine, Mr. Peabody and his adopted boy Sherman hurtle back in time to experience world-changing events first-hand and interact with some of the greatest characters of all time. They find themselves in a race to repair history and save the future.
The marketing for this is doing very little for me, personally, although the animation looks solid. As someone who is dragged to most of animated films throughout the year, I am going to hold off my committment until some of the critics take the bullet for me. Sometimes it's better to suffer through a trip to Chuck E Cheese instead of a really bad animated film.
MR. PEABODY AND SHERMAN hits theaters on March 7, 2014.
