Over the holidays, Ned (Bryan Cranston), an overprotective but loving dad and his family visit his daughter at Stanford, where he meets his biggest nightmare: her well-meaning but socially awkward Silicon Valley billionaire boyfriend, Laird (James Franco). It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out how awkward things are going to get, but now you can get an idea with the second red-band trailer for WHY HIM?!
When the first trailer hit back in June, I thought it felt pretty tame in what I've come to expect from an R-rated venture. I'm happy to say that this trailer assuages most of my fears in that this actually looks like a pretty fun movie! Sure, we all know the endgame, but James Franco and Bryan Cranston bouncing off of each other in a rated R movie is a little hard to mess up. If the story keeps the jokes coming as often as this trailer, I think we're in for a fun, holiday treat!
WHY HIM? will open in theaters on December 23, 2016.
