Glenn Danzig’s Verotika set for a Halloween VOD release

Musician Glenn Danzig, the vocalist for the bands The Misfits, Samhain, and Danzig, has made his feature directorial debut with an anthology film titled VEROTIKA… and his movie didn't exactly get the response he was expecting it to at its Cinepocalypse premiere a week ago. Several people have reported that VEROTIKA is the horror equivalent of the "so incompetent it's entertaining" cult film THE ROOM, and that the audience was laughing at it throughout. In his Q&A after the screening, Danzig said, "You guys laughed at the stuff I wouldn't have laughed at, but that's cool!"

More genre fans will have their chance to see this accidental laugh riot when Cleopatra Entertainment gives it a VOD roll-out release just in time for Halloween. There will also be Fathom screenings of VEROTIKA in New York, San Francisco, Austin, and other markets. The film is expected to be available on DVD and Blu-ray by the end of the year.

Based on characters that have appeared in comics published by Danzig's own comic book company Verotik, the film consists of three stories – The Albino Spider of Dajette, about a French sex worker who has eyes for nipples and is tormented by a monstrous spider; Change of Face, about a disfigured stripper who collects the faces of other women; and Drukija, Contessa of Blood, Danzig's version of the Countess Bathory story.

VEROTIKA was written and directed by Danzig, who also composed the score. It was produced by James Cullen Bressack and Jarrett Furst for Cleopatra Entertainment.

Porn star Kayden Kross hosts the anthology as a character named Morella. Her co-stars include Alice Haig, Ashley Wisdom, Natalia Borowsky, Rachel Alig, Scotch Hopkins, and Sean Kanan.

I was already looking forward to VEROTIKA, but after seeing so many reactions to it make reference to THE ROOM and Ed Wood I'm looking forward to it even more.
