And here we were all hoping to be done with the zombie craze. Sure there is and always will be THE WALKING DEAD but as far as zombies on TV goes – and in movies for that matter – things seemed as if they might be slowing down a tiny bit in the zombie world. Not so apparently.
Now that's not to say that I'm 100% against any new zombie movies and/or series but they will need something truly special to seal the deal for me. Adding Glenn Close to the cast of a "zombie-comedy" is a hell of a good start.
Yes, it seems like Amazon's upcoming zombie horror-comedy series SEA OAK has just cast the amazing Glenn Close as a series regular. The show will be a half-hour and is said to be "a mix of zombie drama and family revenge comedy."
Which sounds interesting… However, the following synopsis seems a bit too SANTA CLARITA DIET.
SEA OAK synopsis:
Sea Oak revolves around Aunt Bernie (Close), a meek, unmarried woman with no children in working-class Rust Belt City who dies tragically in a home invasion. Compelled by sheer force of dissatisfaction, she comes back from the dead full of rage and determined to get the life she never had. She proceeds to inflict a range of demands on what's left of her nuclear family, including a quasi-stripper nephew and two feckless nieces, who live in a low-end subsidized hellhole of a housing complex called Sea Oak.
What do you think? Does the series sound like Amazon's answer to Netflix's SANTA CLARITA DIET or am I just looking too deep into things? Let us know what you think either way on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!
SEA OAK is written by George Saunders, and Jonathan Krauss exec produces through his Affiliated Pictures banner. Lael Smith and Keir McFarlane co-executive produce.
COOL TRIVIA: Glenn Close played THIS guy in Steven Spielberg's HOOK.
