“Gleefull” trailer and poster for Pitch Perfect starring Anna Kendrick sings its way online

The trailer for PITCH PERFECT, a new musical/comedy starring Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson has unleashed its sound and fury online for all to hear.  Following the current trend of Glee-style mash-up music, the film looks to be right in line with its core audience, which would mostly be teenage girls.

However, it does have Anna Kendrick in it, who is both funny and super cute, as well as Brittany snow, who is at least one of those, and Rebel Wilson, who is also one of those.  You decide which.  Wilson was pretty damn funny in BRIDESMAIDS and I think she is the comedic sell here.  The pic also stars Elizabeth Banks and Adam DeVine.

Have a listen.

I mean, I would see this over a trip to the dentist’s office, but not over taking my 3 year old to Chuck E Cheese.  There’s a fine line.  And, for the record, I’m actually a fan of Glee, which I was vehemently against in the beginning, having only seen promos and listened to people fawn annoyingly over it.  Then, one day I decided to see if it was as awful as I deemed it to be.  Two seasons later, well, it’s still annoying, but much more fun than I gave it credit for.

However, I can only take so much musical mash-up.  The sell for PITCH PERFECT is the hot girls, so perhaps that could help ease your suffering if you’re dragged to this by a significant other on date night.

Here’s the synopsis:

Beca (Anna Kendrick) is that girl who’d rather listen to what’s coming out of her headphones than what’s coming out of you.  Arriving at her new college, she finds herself not right for any clique but somehow is muscled into one that she never would have picked on her own: alongside mean girls, sweet girls and weird girls whose only thing in common is how good they sound when they sing together, in the new out-loud comedy Pitch Perfect.

When Beca takes this acoustic singing group out of their world of traditional arrangements and perfect harmonies into all-new mash-ups, they fight to climb their way to the top of the cutthroat world of college a cappella.  This could wind up either the coolest thing they’ll ever do or the most insane, and it will probably be a little of both.

Loaded with new takes on old favorites to hits of right now that are seamlessly mixed together, mashed-up and arranged like you’ve never heard before, Pitch Perfect is directed by Jason Moore, who opened our eyes to the very misbehaved life of puppets in the surprise Broadway sensation Avenue Q.

PITCH PERFECT opens on October 5, 2012.  So, it’s either this or SINISTER on that day, folks.
