While chatting it up at the BAFTA LA Annual Awards Season Tea Party, GONE GIRL author Gillian Flynn told The New York Daily News she's open to doing a sequel to her hit book and movie. Flynn says if it is going to happen it won't be for a few years, and she would want director David Fincher and stars Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike involved with the project.
There could be a sequel at some point if everyone is game to get the gang back together, it could be really fun a few years from now. We could pick it up and see what those crazy Dunnes are up to a few years down the road and if they got on — not well I don't think. I would have to have the exact same people to do it — I would want Rosamund, Ben and Fincher to do it.
Although the way GONE GIRL ends (which I won't spoil for you here) leaves room for another movie, I'm a little surprised there's talk about a sequel. I think it's interesting Flynn doesn't specifically say it would be released as a film or book follow-up. Flynn did a great job adapting her novel for the big screen, and since she is also developing the upcoming HBO series Utopia with David Fincher, maybe she'll just write the screenplay for a movie sequel instead of penning a new Gone Girl book. What are your thoughts on a GONE GIRL sequel?
