G.I. Joe: Live-action Lady Jaye TV series in development at Amazon

Yo Joe! Big Lob makes his move! Was a man! There are only two ways out of my command, on your feet like a man, or in a ditty bag, an itty-bitty ditty bag. Whoa! Sorry. Sometimes, all I need is to hear the words, G.I. Joe, before I start quoting lines from the animated film. We can move on, though. Otherwise, we'll be here all day. Lady Jaye, the gifted linguist, actress, and undercover operative in Hasbro's G.I. Joe universe, is getting her very own live-action TV series.

Erik Oleson, who serves as showrunner and executive producer of the upcoming second season of Amazon’s Carnival Row, will create and act as showrunner for the Lady Jaye series, which is being set up at Amazon Prime. Lorenzo DiBonaventura will executive produce as well.

Lady Jaye marched onto the G.I. Joe scene in the 1984 animated series and quickly became a fan-favorite character after Hasbro released an action figure representing the character. In addition to her at-home adventures while in the hands of boys and girls across the globe, Lady Jaye was written into G.I. Joe comics, where she fought for freedom alongside Duke, Flint, Scarlett, and scores of other operatives looking to keep Cobra from taking over the world. Lady Jaye also appeared in the 2013 feature film G.I. Joe: Retaliation, where she was played by Adrianne Palicki (John Wick, The Orville).

This is not the only live-action G.I. Joe project on the way. Soon, director Robert Schwentke will unleash Snake Eyes, starring Henry Golding, Samara Weaving, Úrsula Corberó, Iko Uwais, Andrew Koji, Peter Mensah, Haruka Abe, Takehiro Hira, and Simon Chin, among several others. A G.I. Joe spin-off, the film will center around the mysterious character Snake Eyes, who was trained by the Arashikage Clan.
