We have some sad news to share with you today as we have learned that GHOSTBUSTERS writer and star Harold Ramis, who portrayed Dr. Egon Spengler in the successful film and its sequel, has passed away at age 69 from complications of autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis.
Ramis leaves a legacy of amazing work that included the genre faves GHOSTBUSTERS and GHOSTBUSTERS 2 but he was also responsible for many classic comedic works including ANIMAL HOUSE, NATIONAL LAMPOON’S VACATION, STRIPES and GROUNDHOG DAY.
Last year Ramis' GHOSTBUSTERS co-star Dan Aykroyd shared that the long-awaited GHOSTBUSTERS 3 could film this year and that Ramis was "in on it". It would've been great to see Ramis suit back up for another adventure busting ghosts.
Ramis is survived by his wife Erica, sons Julian and Daniel, daughter Violet and two grandchildren.
