UPDATE – Check out the first screenshot from the game below…
After years of fan anticipation (and ongoing insistence from Dan Aykroyd), the GHOSTBUSTERS are finally coming back for more ectoplasm collecting.
However, it’s not necessarily what you might think (or want) — the gang won’t be throwing proton streams on the big screen, in either living flesh or computer-animated form. The reunion will take place in the digital realm, and in whatever room in your home the next-gen game console is located.
Sony and Vivendi are rounding up the original cast for a videogame “sequel”, set after the second film and concerning a new ghoul invasion of New York. Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd will provide their voices and likenesses, with the story created by Ray and Egon themselves. Actors William Atherton (EPA inspector Walter Peck) and receptionist Annie Potts will also make rendered appearances. Slimer did not return calls.
The game is set for release in late 2008.
