Ghostbusters finds its villain: Comedian Neil Casey

GHOSTBUSTERS continues to cast up even as production hums along in Boston. Yesterday we reported the film had brought in a trio of cool dudes – Andy Garcia, Michael Kenneth Williams and Matt Walsh – and now it would appear as though director Paul Feig has cast a fairly pivotal role, that of the “villain.”

Comedian Neil Casey, who is more known for his writing credits than acting ones, will play the character of Rowan in the franchise reboot. Naturally, details about the character aren’t forthcoming, but one can assume he’ll be playing a human bad guy not unlike William Atherton’s Walter Peck in the 1984 original. (That’s just an assumption, of course.)

Casey has been a writer for, among other programs, SNL (he’s certainly familiar with GHOSTBUSTERS stars Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones in that case), Inside Amy Schumer and Kroll Show. He’s had guest roles on the latter two series, as well as a featured part in Other Space, which was created by Feig and airs on Yahoo. This guy obviously works with all the right people!

GHOSTBUSTERS opens July 22, 2016. (The above photo was taken by Cate Hellman.)
