A new trailer for Ghostbusters: Afterlife has been released and it looks like it's going to be a treat for new fans and those of us who hold on to the nostalgia of the 1984 original film.
In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, “After being evicted from their home, two children and their single mother move to a farm inherited from their late grandfather, located in Summerville, Oklahoma. When the town experiences a series of unexplained earthquakes, the children discover their family’s link to the original Ghostbusters, who have become something of a myth as many have long since forgotten the events of the Manhattan Crossrip of 1984. They discover the secret legacy that their grandfather left behind.” The film also stars Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, and Mckenna Grace, while original Ghostbusters stars Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, and Annie Potts also reprise their roles. Adding more pedigree to the sequel is that Jason Reitman, son of original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman, co-wrote the film (along with Gil Kenan) and took on directing duties.
It has been a long road to the big screen for Ghostbusters: Afterlife and we only have the COVID-19 pandemic to thank for it. The first trailer debuted all the way back in December of 2019 when the film was set for a July 2020 release date. The movie was one of many projects that were delayed due to the pandemic but Sony Pictures tried to hold fans over with various teases over the last few months. Having this trailer drop now should get fans excited for its upcoming release which is expected for November 11, 2021, after being delayed three times from its original date in 2020.
