Ghostbusters: Afterlife: Sigourney Weaver says it’s a glorious film

Reactions to Ghostbusters: Afterlife – which is scheduled to reach theatres on November 19th – were very positive after a surprise screening at CinemaCon in August, with those in attendance described the film as “heartfelt”, “loyal to the original”, “really great”, “nostalgia done right”, “stupendously well written”, etc. Someone else who was impressed by the film is cast member Sigourney Weaver, who reprises the role she played in the original Ghostbusters (watch it HERE) and Ghostbusters II (watch that HERE).

Speaking with ET Canada, Weaver said Ghostbusters: Afterlife is

full of heart. It’s very funny. It’s very charming. And it will surprise everybody. It’s just a glorious film.”

Directed by Jason Reitman, who is the son of Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II director Ivan Reitman, Ghostbusters: Afterlife stars Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, and Carrie Coon as

a family with single mom Callie and her two kids, Trevor and Phoebe, who move into a beaten-down farmhouse in Oklahoma only to discover that there’s something strange in the neighborhood. Unexplained quakes shake the town. There’s an old mine nearby that bears the name of Ivo Shandor, who built the Manhattan high-rise in the 1984 film that channeled the forces of evil.

Paul Rudd plays “a local teacher who’s been documenting the unexplained phenomena, befriending Callie and her kids, and helping make the connection between the current weirdness and the events of three decades before”. Celeste O’Connor, Logan Kim, Bokeem Woodbine, Tracy Letts, and Oliver Cooper are also in the cast, with Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts also reprising their roles from the original films.

Ivan Reitman produced Ghostbusters: Afterlife, with Aykroyd serving as executive producer alongside Jason Blumenfeld, Michael Beugg, Aaron L. Gilbert, Jason Cloth, and Gil Kenan, who wrote the screenplay with Jason Reitman.
