When a Ghostbusters: Afterlife video arrived online the other day to show us a moment of Paul Rudd encountering miniature versions of the Stay Puft marshmallow man, we weren't sure if the clip was just a preview of a commercial or a glimpse at a scene from the film. Now it has been announced that part of the marketing for Ghostbusters: Afterlife will include a line of "Mini-Pufts" figures, seemingly confirming that the Mini-Pufts are indeed in the movie.
The figures are coming our way from Hasbro, and so far the company has shared a look at twelve of them. You can see these images below. Each of these figures will come inside a jar of "goopy marshmallow-like compound". What we're saying is, Hasbro is sticking toys into marshmallow fluff.
Here's the information:
GHOSTBUSTERS MINI-PUFT SURPRISE
(Ages 4 and Up / Approx. Retail Price: $5.39 / Available: Fall 2021)
Choose the smallest, most collectible method of your destruction with the GHOSTBUSTERS Mini-Pufts Surprise figures from Hasbro. Detailed to look like characters from the 2021 Ghostbusters: Afterlife film, each series of 1.5-inch Mini-Puft figures is inspired by the original Stay Puft Marshmallow Man but comes equipped with new mischievous personalities from the movie. Kids and collectors alike can open the Stay Puft Marshmallow can and dig into the goopy marshmallow-like compound to see which Mini-Puft figure is inside.
With multiple blind waves and six unique figures per wave for the GHOSTBUSTERS Mini-Pufts Surprise figures, boys and girls can collect them all! Available at most major retailers nationwide.
I'm not going to be buying multiple jars of marshmallow fluff and digging into them in hopes of collecting the complete set of Mini-Pufts, but I'm sure there are a lot of fans out there who are going to have fun doing just that.
Directed by Jason Reitman from a screenplay he wrote with Gil Kenan, Ghostbusters: Afterlife stars Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, and Carrie Coon as a family
with single mom Callie and her two kids, Trevor and Phoebe, who move into a beaten-down farmhouse in Oklahoma only to discover that there’s something strange in the neighborhood. Unexplained quakes shake the town. There’s an old mine nearby that bears the name of Ivo Shandor, who built the Manhattan high-rise in the 1984 film that channeled the forces of evil. Paul Rudd costars as a local teacher who’s been documenting the unexplained phenomena, befriending Callie and her kids, and helping make the connection between the current weirdness and the events of three decades before.
Also in the cast are Bokeem Woodbine, Tracy Letts, Celeste O'Connor, Logan Kim, and Oliver Cooper, plus returning Ghostbusters stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, and Annie Potts.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife is scheduled to reach theatres on November 11.
