According to an insider close to The Direct, it seems that Kevin Feige is hot on a GHOST RIDER reboot – reportedly separate from the Robbie Reyes version played by Gabriel Luna on the AGENTS OF SHIELD TV show (whose canonicity with the MCU was always shaky). This seems to point to – according to the insider – a retelling of the Johnny Blaze version of GHOST RIDER. However, it is unclear if Feige wants to go the feature film route, or relegate it to a Disney+ show.
They further speculate that Ghost Rider will make his first appearance in DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS, as the rumored villain is Nightmare, who is a common adversary to both Strange and Ghost Rider. This also wouldn't be the first time Marvel has done something like this, as they introduced both Black Panther and Spider-Man as supporting characters in CIVIL WAR, before launching them to their own feature films later. Hell, Mahershala Ali's Blade is already confirmed for the DOCTOR STRANGE sequel, so it's far from out of the realm of possibility that it might do the same for our favorite flaming skull-faced stunt rider!
Personally I'm down! I love GHOST RIDER, and feel he was very under-served in the two Nicolas Cage films (I have heard the version on AGENTS OF SHIELD was done well, I just never personally got into that show).
But what do you guys think? Any other fans of GHOST RIDER? And if so, who's your favorite incarnation? Either way, sound off below!
Meanwhile, DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS has been currently slated for a March 25, 2022 release.
