Ghost Month site up

Even though the official synopsis for the film
GHOST MONTH
seems thin (supernatural-thriller, based
on the Chinese 7th Month, known as “Ghost Month”) and the voice over for
the trailer is wildly amusing (Reminds me of the guy who did the early Troma
stuff; obscure reference yes but once you hear it you’ll be saying the same
thing) I have to admit that the imagery in the trailer was bizarre and creepy
enough to peak my interest.

Being directed/written/produced by the elusive
Danny Draven, after watching the trailer for GHOST MONTH it looks like a
very cool concept for a film. They’ve taken several concepts from other Asian
horror films and brought them together in a domestic setting to create something
very cool.

Danny Draven spoke about his upcoming film and
it’s pretty interesting what he said. Draven says: “I will
not make movies to cater the market trends anymore. I am a filmmaker, and  I
will tell story. I will not put tits or excessive gore in a movie because I
think it will help sell it. With my company’s new films story is always first,
spectacle last.” This is a pretty interesting thing to say considering
the current trend of the genre involves both torture and gratuitous T&A
(Although I won’t generally complain about the latter). It is nice to hear
someone whose been working in the genre for so long talk about story being most
important instead of some sort of gimmick, so I’m thinking that this will lead
to something very sharp with GHOST MONTH.

So go ahead and check out the official site for
GHOST MONTH
or their
MySpace
to see a very cool trailer that will hopefully lead to a very
original film.
