Get your first look at a Nicole Kidman as Erin Bell in new Destroyer image

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Annapurna Pictures has released a new image for their upcoming action crime drama DESTROYER, featuring a transformative look at EYES WIDE SHUT and THE OTHERS actress Nicole Kidman as detective Erin Bell. The pic itself carries with it a dark tone, bathing Kidman's Bell in a stormy light as she looks on with inquisitive eyes set beneath a mop of graying raven-black hair.

Helming DESTROYER is GIRLFIGHT and JENNIFER'S BODY director Karyn Kusama, who aims to tell a tale that follows the moral and existential odyssey of LAPD detective Erin Bell who, as a young cop, was placed undercover with a gang in the California desert with tragic results. When the leader of that gang re-emerges many years later, she must work her way back through the remaining members and into her own history with them to finally reckon with the demons that destroyed her past.

Penning the screenplay for the upcoming thriller are Phil Hay (CLASH OF THE TITANS, CRAZY/BEAUTIFUL) and Matt Manfredi (R.I.P.D., AEON FLUX). While the aforementioned films may not fill you with confidence in regard to DESTROYER's story content, it should be noted that a wealth of notable performers will be bringing the events of the film to life up on the big screen. Starring alongside Kidman in the pic are Sebastian Stan (LOGAN LUCKY, AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR), Bradley Whitford (GET OUT, THE CABIN IN THE WOODS), Toby Kebbell (DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, FANTASTIC FOUR), Tatiana Maslany (ORPHAN BLACK, STRONGER), Scoot McNairy (FRANK, ARGO) and Natalia Cordova-Buckley (SLINGSHOT, BATES MOTEL), among others.

DESTROYER is set for a December 25 release, giving you a reason to take in a dark and gritty drama for the holiday, as opposed to your standard holly jolly fantasy adventure. I'm sure the kids will love it.
