It has been absurdly difficult to parse out what 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE actually is, other than a "blood relative" to 2008's CLOVERFIELD. It sounds like a sequel to 9 Chickweed Lane and it looks like a horror version of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, neither of which seem a whit like a monster movie. Of course, we'll just have to wait until March 11th and see.
For the time being, we've gotten a slick new poster for the film, once again displaying the Abrams team's flair for cryptic yet dazzling promotional art. It tells us nothing, but it's a stunning design that any film student would adore hanging on their wall for posterity. Check out the image below!
The majority of the movie takes place in an underground cellar, and revolves around a young woman who wakes up in the cellar after a severe car accident and fears she has been abducted. Her captor, a doomsday prepper, tells her he saved her life and that there has been a terrible chemical attack that has left the outside uninhabitable. She does not know what to believe and as tensions rise, she decides she must escape, regardless of the terrors that await outside.
The film stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, John Goodman, and John Gallagher Jr. It was directed by Dan Trachtenberg from a screenplay by Josh Campbell, Matt Stuecken, and Damien Chazelle.
