Get on Board!

If you’re like me (and for your and the universe’s sake, I hope your not), and you spend the majority of your day committing sin after sin after sin, you’ll take any chance you can get to redeem yourself, if not to make it to heaven, then at least to be able to look at yourself in the mirror. Well now here is your chance to do some of that good.

Universal Pictures, in association with the Conservation Fund and the upcoming release of EVAN ALMIGHTY on June 22nd, have launched GET ON BOARD, an online initiative based at www.getonboardnow.org, where you can go and take very real steps to stop the global warming process. The website is home to the Almighty Forest, a virtual woods if you will, where you can donate $5 which will be put towards the planting of a real tree. Not only that, but you can customize your cute little virtual tree and meet up with other like-mind environmentalists.

But wait for it, because here’s the kicker. If you donate a virtual tree before EVAN’s theatrical release date, your name will be included on the official DVD. Since thousands of people have donated already, I’m assuming there will be a pamphlet with everyone’s name, but it’s cool nonetheless. The site is quite extensive and interactive and worth checking out, with lots of ways to help. So come on people! Instead of taking that decaying industrial barrel of toxic waste that’s been sitting in your garage for the last 7 years and dumping it in the nearby ravine, how about doing this instead? I’m certain Mother Nature would appreciate it.
