It’s been so over-quoted throughout the past few years, it’s easy to forget just how good BORAT was when it was released. I don’t think I’ve laughed as hard at anything in the years since. BRUNO was good, but not quite as good, and not even as funny as Cohen’s performance in TALLADEGA NIGHTS.
While Cohen has been busy acting in other people’s films (in Martin Scorsese’s HUGO and Quentin Tarantino’s DJANGO UNCHAINED) he did find time for another one of his creations, THE DICTATOR. Unlike BORAT or BRUNO, this isn’t a documentary style film and instead a traditional narrative about a dictator from the fictional Republic of Wadiya, who comes to the United States to learn about democracy (and how to keep it from the country he so lovingly oppresses).
There are some pretty good gags in here including a great Kardashian bit at the end. I don’t want to give too much away, so check out the trailer for yourself below.
