Just a couple weeks ago, we shared a trailer for writer/director Tilman Singer's LUZ, along with the news that the film is getting a theatrical release in New York and Los Angeles on July 19th. With just a couple more weeks to go until that release, another trailer has been released online and can be seen below.
Shot on 16mm film, LUZ is Singer's homage to David Cronenberg, Dario Argento, and Lucio Fulci, but it's also said to "infuse the genre with a fresh take of his own". The story begins
as a young female cabdriver drags herself into a run-down police station. However, a demonic entity has followed her there, determined to finally be close to the woman it loves.
Luana Velis plays the title role and is joined in the cast by Jan Bluthardt, Nadja Stubiger, Johannes Benecke, Julia Riedler, and Lilli Lorenz.
In New York, LUZ will be showing at the IFC Center, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema City Point, and Nitehawk Cinema Williamsburg. In Los Angeles, it will be showing at Laemmle Monica and Laemmle Glendale. A national release will follow.
I actually preferred the previous trailer over this one, but they both have me intrigued to check out LUZ when I get a chance.
