Gerard Butler takes down bank robbers in Den of Thieves trailer

GEOSTORM hasn't even been in theaters for a week, and yet it's already looking as though the disaster flick will potentially lose as much as $100 million. Not exactly the blockbuster Warner Bros. had in mind, but luckily for Gerard Butler, he's already got another film on the way. DEN OF THIEVES stars Butler as Nick Flanagan, the leader of an elite unit of the L.A. County Sheriff's department. When a group of bank robbers begin planning a heist on the Federal Reserve Bank of downtown Los Angeles, it's up to Flanagan and his team to stop them. Also starring 50 Cent (SOUTHPAW), Pablo Schreiber (Orange is the New Black), O'Shea Jackson Jr. (STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON), the heist-thriller comes to us from Christian Gudegast (LONDON HAS FALLEN).

I know we're not in exactly in HEAT territory here, but I'll admit to enjoying what we just saw from the DEN OF THIEVES trailer, and, no matter the project, I'm always down for Gerard Butler beating the shit out of some bad guys. Might be a fun way to waste a January afternoon.

The official synopsis for DEN OF THIEVES:

A Los Angeles crime saga in the vein of “Heat”, DEN OF THIEVES follows the intersecting and often personally connected lives of an elite unit of the LA County Sheriff’s Dept. and the state’s most successful bank robbery crew as the outlaws plan a seemingly impossible heist on the Federal Reserve Bank of downtown Los Angeles.

DEN OF THIEVES will hit theaters on January 19, 2018.
